Getting There.

Sunday funday...

Every Sunday we usually leave the house around noon and go to my parents house to do our laundry, hang out, and have Sunday dinner. This Sunday was only slightly different. I woke up around 5 in the tent and discovered that there was a mosquito in it, I killed it trying to biting the little one, "Bug Bites" again. My poor little guy got bit about 20 times in his sleep :'-( Naturally he's the only one to get bit because he has the worst reaction to bites. Dr. Mom jumped into action and ran inside for some Caladryl and Benadryl. Somehow I managed to get him to drink some Benadryl and rub Caladryl on all of his bites without waking him up. Back to sleep until 7:30, woot woot! Today we had an even bigger breakfast of french toast and bacon after which the older one, "The Cleaner" helped clean up the kitchen before he went to church with my mom. Bug Bites and I fell asleep snuggling on the couch watching the Ninja Turtles. I woke up way before him and spent the next few hours waiting for him to wake up cleaning. I took these pictures before we left, because we don't get home until very late on Sunday's and I always go straight to sleep. I can hardly believe that this is my house I'm going to show you today.

Living Room
Notice that the bag of laundry is gone, actually put away. The only thing left to do in here is put away that space heater and humidifier. And vacuum of course.

Kitchen
All the dishes are washed and the counters are cleaned off. Remember that box with the food processor that's been floating around? I actually got rid of it today although you can't tell from this picture.

Dining Room
Nothing but place mats on the table. I finally put away that pile of clothes too. Though it looks like I missed two things on the rocking chair.

Bathroom
Still nice and clean thanks to The Cleaner and Bug Bites. You can see in the Kitchen picture that I finally put the laundry basket that belongs in here back next to the sink.

Back Room
It's never actually a mess in here anyway.

Kids Room
All the toys are put away where they belong. I just need to get some help to get rid of that bed.

My Room
Sooo... Maybe it's not clean yet, but it's WAAAAYYYYY better than yesterday. Notice that the basket of clothes from my bed has been put away finally too. This one is a work in progress.

I'm going to be away all next week, I may or may not update you tomorrow night before I leave. Unless I find a way to make a huge mess on my own I probably won't.

Happy Campers.

Saturday night...

This is our home tonight.
I love summer time. The best part about it is getting to camp out in the back yard with my two best buddies. We had the best and most productive day ever today. We slept in a little bit and had a delicious breakfast of scrambled eggs and toast. The boys played nicely together while I cleaned up the breakfast dishes. Then we went outside and they still played nicely while I cut the grass (ugh, it takes like an hour). When I finished that we scrubbed out the little pool so that we would at least have some water to play in to cool off. As we were filling the pool the water fight broke out. The pool never ended up getting filled, but we got plenty wet and cooled off anyway. Back inside for a quick pasta dinner and then we were camping, complete with peanut butter cup s'mores. As a result of all of this outdoor time today the house is still pretty clean. Pretty much the only downside to being outside is the mosquitoes, but more on that later.

Living Room
Only my bathing suit on the couch messing up this room. Oh, and that ever present bag of laundry (I swear I will put it away eventually).

Kitchen
I'm going to go ahead and pat myself on the back over this one. Not one, but TWO meals cooked in here today, and no dirty dishes. You may also notice that the fruit that has been on the counter is gone, it's been made into fruit salad and put in the refrigerator. The only evidence of my cooking is the new batch of CLEAN dishes. Go me!!!

Dining Room
You can't even tell that a meal was eaten in here only a half hour before I took this picture.

Bathroom
All cleaned up thanks to two cute cleaning boys.

Back Room
I know that this is going to be hard to believe, but at one point today there were Legos all over the floor in here. Thanks to Not Messing Around Mom's strictly enforced "If I step on a Lego you won't see them for a month" policy they are ALL put away.

Kids Room
Plenty of arrows, but where are the bows? Who knows? This is the only evidence that they were playing in the house today, and hooray it's on the floor in their room. I love it when a plan works.

My Room
The thorn on the rose. I didn't think this was possible, but there is actually more stuff on my bed than there was yesterday. I'll have to clean it off to sleep in it eventually. Right? But for now I'm just going to enjoy the view of the fire.

The Great Escape

Friday night...

Hooray! It looks like my crew of cleaning elves came over last night! to celebrate the beginning of summer vacation I took the boys to the Great Escape today. We had an awesome time, and best of all nobody was home to mess up the cleaning elves hard work. Take a look.

Living Room
Friday night is "camp out" night at my house. We pull out the couch, watch a movie and usually have popcorn. Notice that I moved that laundry basket, but the bag of laundry is still there.

Kitchen
Holy Cow, no dirty dishes! Clean dishes are a rare sight in this room, so don't get used to seeing them. Oh yeah, the box is still in the corner.

Dining Room
It's pretty clean here. Pile of clothes still on the table, a couple cups. Nothing major.

Bathroom
Wow! They actually took their clothes off in the appropriate room tonight. Perhaps one day they will make it to the laundry basket.

Back Room
No more computer :-( It was a nice loan, but it had to go back to its home. Other than that this room hasn't been touched.

Kids Room
Well, well, well. It looks like that exploding clothes bag from yesterday found itself a new home, and it's still exploding clothes.

My Room
Hahahahahahah. And you thought the house was pretty clean tonight. Remember that laundry basket that was missing from the living room? There it is on my bed (I never said that I put the clothes away). The bag from the Great Escape is there too, along with a bunch of clothes from my car. Oh well, perhaps some day I will clean it up in here.

Political mom strikes.

Thursday night...
Tonight political mom had a fundraiser to attend/work. Unfortunately political mom doesn't have much of a memory and only remembered this AFTER getting dressed this morning. Late For Everything mom already got up late today, so this last minute wardrobe change really threw a kink into the morning routine. We hate kinks!!! As a little bonus political mom's fundraiser means we got home extra late and made even more of a mess. This deadly combo of events makes the house extra messy. As you're about to see.
Living Room
Yeah, yeah, I know... I still didn't put that laundry away. And those clothes that exploded out of that bag on the couch? I was trying to find shorts for the boys in the beach bag. Pajamas, on the floor. Dirty little boy clothes, on the floor. WOW! Is all I have to say.
Kitchen
THE DISHES HAVE TAKEN OVER!!!! See how fast they grow? Now they are sprouting cereal bowls on the counter. Due to some rushed lunch making this morning there are open snack bags on the counter too. I have to admit that I'm a little embarrassed to show you this room. Moving on...

Dining Room

Not too bad here. Just the bags from my trip to CVS.
Bathroom

Wow! It looks like political moms assault even hit the bathroom today. Hairdryer, makeup, random flyer. Did she leave no room unscathed?
Back Room

It turns out she did...
Kids Room

In fact she left two rooms untouched by her rampage :-)
My Room
Even my own room, while still a mess is fairly unchanged today.

What will happen overnight? Will the house get cleaner or dirtier? I guess you'll have to check back tomorrow to see...

The Bee Sting Incident

Wednesday Night...

We got from work at about 5:45, and needed to quickly eat dinner so that we could make it to the concert at the park, which starts at 7. I went inside to start dinner and sent the boys out to play on the swing set. ONE MINUTE LATER the little one is screaming and running into the house. I ran out to pick him up and I asked him what happened.
"SOME KIND OF BUG, I DON'T KNOW WHAT KIND IT WAS GOT ON MY LEG AND IT BITTED ME!!! WHY DID IT BITE ME?!?! IT HURTS!!!"
30 min, an ice pack, a lollipop, and some aspirin paste later. Dr. Mom went back to being Chef Mom. with now only 45min until we are supposed to be at the park I started dinner; grilled pork chops, rice and green beans. Needless to say, we were late for the concert, and as a result the house it a disaster.
Tonight I took pics from different spots in the rooms to try to give you a more complete picture.

Living Room

We got home pretty late from the park. It was straight inside clothes off and into the shower. The clothes just happened to come off in the living room. I did somehow manage to put away one of those baskets of laundry (go me!) That space heater and humidifier are left over winter relics. I'm afraid to put them away because it keeps getting kind of cold at night.

Kitchen

The sink is even more full of dishes than yesterday after today's cooking (I'm almost out of forks, so I'll have to wash them soon). The cake carrier on the counter, who knows when the urge to bake a cake might come over you. And still the trusty box in the corner.

Dining Room

Woah, thats a blurry picture. Sorry about that. Anyway... We ate at the table, so it's pretty clear. Just a bag of crap from the car and some lunch boxes.

Back Room

Nobody has been in here, so it's the same as yesterday.

Bathroom

Since the clothes ended up in the living room the bathroom is still clean.

Kids Room

I'm not sure what that big blue thing on the floor is, probably a blanket. The crib taken apart in the bag in the corner of the room has been there since November or December. It's too heavy for me to take outside by myself and I keep forgetting to ask for help when I have people over. It's out of the way over there and if I have to get into the closet I pull it out and put it in front of the toy box.

My Room

Yup, it's still a mess. You can see more of the mess in today's picture than you could yesterday.

Day One.

Come on a little tour of my messy house...
This was Tuesday night.

The Living Room

OK... Those laundry baskets I will admit have been there since Monday (I really need to put those clothes away). The giant Green things behind the door are the boys bean bags, there isn't really anywhere else for them to live, so there they are. That tank has a turtle in it, and the jugs of water next to it are to refill the turtle tank regularly (once again, nowhere else for them to live). Then there is just the general every day mess; boys blankets on the couch, stuffed animal on the floor. And YES, Those are rabbit ears next to the TV. NO, I don't have cable.

Kitchen

Yup, there are dishes in my sink. There will pretty much always be dishes in my sink. Even after I do the dishes there are dishes in my sink. Lunch boxes on the counter a couple piles of mail and some fruit. The biggest offender in this room... notice the corner of a box on the floor next to the counter. Thats been there for months, it has a food processor in it that I want but I don't really have anyplace to keep.

Dining Room

Lucky You, you get a closeup of my mail on the counter here! There are some clothes on the table (I really, really need to put those clothes away). Thats my basil plant over there next to the window and some papers from school. That rocking chair is in here because it's out of the way in that corner, I want it to go through that door behind it and live in that room but I haven't figured out how to get it through the door.

The "Back Room"

This room is usually the worst offender in the house. All of our games and arts & crafts stuff lives in here, so it can get messy pretty quickly.  I cleaned it out about a month ago, and since it's been nice out the kids have been playing outside instead of in here. Eventually that rocking chair will live in here too.

Bathroom

I'm standing in the Bathtub to get this picture (see my arm in the mirror). The only mess in here is the laundry pile that usually in in a basket, but the basket is in the living room waiting to have its contents put away (I really, really, really need to put away that laundry). Nothing to see here, move along.

Kids Room

This room is huge! I'm standing on a bed, and the other bed is next to it. ALL of the toys live in here so that (hopefully) their mess will be contained in here. We haven't been home much lately, so it's very clean in here right now.

My Room

My room actually is a mess... I admit it. Thats a pile of sheets next to the dresser. All kinds of crap covering my dressers. And there's even more stuff that you can't see in this picture (see me in the mirror). After cleaning the rest of the house I just don't care anymore when I get to my room. If you don't like it, don't come in. I'll keep the door shut. Sometimes I do get it to look clean, but it almost never lasts.

Welcome Home.

Hi, I'm Aiyana.

I'm a single mom of two awesome young boys. I work full time and I also am very politically active and have various volunteer activities. Lets just say I'm busy.
I've recently been told that my house is dirty, almost to the point of being uninhabitable. This made me VERY ANGRY. My house!?! Dirty?!? It may be a little messy, but it is most definitely NOT dirty. I spend so many hours a week cleaning it can't possibly be dirty. Maybe I'm just moving the mess around.

As one of my friends says "If you're mad about something, Blog about it." so here we are

I will leave it to you my readers to judge me as you will. I will take a picture of each room in my house every night BEFORE I do any cleaning. I will be honest and point out the messes that are around. That way you get the full effect of the "mess". Who knows, maybe sharing my mess with you on a daily basis will motivate me to keep it cleaner.

Welcome Home...
